Bathroom Remodel for Under $1,500

After a series of long posts documenting our bathroom remodel we thought that today we’d give those of you who read every word a bit of a break. Today’s post is simple. What did it cost us to take our 1960s penny tile laden, wallpaper stricken,  Pepto Bismol stained bathroom into the 21st century? If you read the title you already know the that it was under $1,500.

So let’s talk a bit about how we made that happen…

  • Allure Resilient Flooring = $150
  • 2 Estate 31” Vanities = $432
  • 2 Faucets (we went all out) = $240
  • Tansy Green SW Paint = $60
  • Base Molding = $30
  • West Elm Shower Curtain = $50
  • 2 Ikea Mirrors = $60
  • 2 Wall Lamps = $80
  • Window Blinds = $30
  • New Curtain Rod = $30
  • Odds and Ends = $171

Total Out of Pocket Expenses = $1,333

The average cost of a professional bathroom remodel is somewhere around $350 per sq foot. So for our bathroom which is 50 sq feet. It would have cost us approximately= $17,500

So a little bit of elbow grease and a whole lot of YouTube videos = Priceless… or more accurately $16,167

We hope this helps convince some of you would-be DIYers out there to *ahem* step up to the toilet and take the plunge.

It was a lot of work and a huge learning experience but it was also a heck of a lot of fun.

Have you taken on a DIY remodel? How did you do? What did you do? How much do you think you saved? Did you beat us? – We’re still newbies learning right along side you so any help, input, or advice is appreciated! 🙂 —  Let us know in the comments below.
